Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Folio Hiring LLC ("Folio," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal information when you use the Folio website and application (the "Platform"). By using Folio, you agree to the practices described here.

Information you provide directly: Account data (your name, email address, and password or email verification code); Profile/Folio data (job title, skills, work history, bio, location, photos, work samples, and anything else you add); Communications (messages you send to other users and to us); Payment data (for Businesses buying paid features, billing details processed by our payment providers — we do not store full card numbers).

Information collected automatically: Usage data (pages and profiles you view, searches, clicks, and time spent); Device and log data (IP address, browser type, device identifiers, operating system, and referring pages); Cookies and similar technologies (see our Cookie Policy); Approximate location based on your IP address, or more precise location if you give permission.

Information from third parties: Analytics and infrastructure providers that help us run the Platform.

We use your information to: create and manage your account and Folio; operate the core service — showing Job Seeker profiles to Businesses and enabling contact; facilitate messaging and interview scheduling; process payments for paid features; personalize and improve the Platform, including recommendations; send you service messages, security alerts, and — where permitted — marketing you can opt out of; detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security or technical issues; and comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

Where the GDPR applies, we process personal data based on: performing our contract with you (providing the service), your consent (e.g., marketing and certain cookies), our legitimate interests (improving and securing the Platform), and compliance with legal obligations.

With other users: Your Folio profile is, by design, visible to Businesses on the Platform. Don't include sensitive information you don't want seen. Messages are shared with their recipient.

With service providers: Hosting, database, analytics, payment processing, and email vendors who process data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.

For legal reasons: When required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and property of Folio, our users, or the public.

In a business transfer: If Folio Hiring LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that deal.

We do not sell your personal information for money.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to: access, correct, or delete your personal information; object to or restrict certain processing; withdraw consent at any time; request a portable copy of your data; opt out of marketing emails; (California residents) know what we collect, request deletion, and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights; (EU/UK residents) lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise any of these, email us at [your privacy email]. We'll respond within the time required by law.

We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When it's no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.

You can permanently delete your folio account and all associated data at any time. In the app, go to Settings → Delete Account and type DELETE to confirm — your profile, folio, messages, saved businesses, location data, and login credentials are removed immediately. If you can't access the app, email hello@foliohiring.com from your account's email address with the subject "Delete My Account" and we will remove your data within 30 days.

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your information may be processed in the United States or other countries that may have different data protection laws than yours. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for these transfers.

Folio is not intended for anyone below the minimum working age set by their state's employment/work-permit laws, and we do not knowingly collect data from children below that age without the consent of a parent or legal guardian. If we learn we have, we will delete it.

Folio may link to third-party websites and services that have their own privacy practices, which we are not responsible for.

We may update this Policy from time to time and will post the revised version with a new "Last updated" date. We'll communicate significant changes as required by law.
